There are many pieces of information that you will need to perform a successful NetWare recovery that can only be obtained while your server is operational. If you do not have this information and your server is dead in the water, the chances of a successful recovery are greatly reduced.   • LAN driver configuration

  • Server name

  • NetWare version

  • NetWare serial number

  • Total server memory

  • NLMs loaded

  • Host adapter information

  • Hard drive information

  • Contents of all other .NCF files

  • Contents of all .CFG files

  • Contents of DOS CONFIG.SYS file

  • Contents of DOS AUTOEXEC.BAT file

  • NetWare volume size and configuration

  • Name spaces loaded

  • Contents of SYS:ETC\HOSTS file

  • Contents of AUTOEXEC.NCF

  • Contents of STARTUP.NCF


You should keep all of this information current and in a safe location. Keeping a printed copy of this information in your disaster recovery documentation is also recommended.
